About

How does counseling work for you?

You can achieve the quality of life you seek. Struggling alone is not necessary or helpful in human journeys.

After discussing the issues at hand, we will collaborate on a treatment plan for the future, utilizing tools and concepts to achieve your mental health goals.

We meet virtually weekly to review progress and expand on substance. Clients generally experience lower anxiety, depression, and improved quality of life within a few sessions.

We can meet virtually.

Virtual sessions (similar to Zoom) are more effective than traditional office sessions in several ways.

There is less burden on the client: joining the session from your home, office, or car lets you avoid traffic and weather, and avoid wasting travel time to an office location.

Also, rather than an unknown office setting, you are in your comfort zone, in places you already know and are comfortable in. In the comfort zone, you may have pets, comfy clothes, and a setting where you already belong. This allows faster rapport building and getting to the issues of concern.

I specialize in helping veterans and first responders.

As a veteran or first responder, the weight doesn’t lift at the end of your shift. The images, sounds, and split-second decisions of the job stay with you: haunting quiet moments, straining relationships, and chipping away at the sense of calm you once had.

It’s traumatic – for you and your family. You know what I’m talking about – the anger, the isolation, the emotional numbness. You find yourself snapping at loved ones, losing sleep, and feeling disconnected from the person you once were.

You’ve always protected others, but now, it’s time to protect your own well-being. Healing doesn’t mean weakness; it means reclaiming yourself.

Therapy is available for couples and individuals.

With over 20 years of experience, I use trauma-informed therapies to help you master your triggers and rebuild the bonds that matter most.

We’ll identify the patterns that keep you challenged and develop strategies to make you feel calm and composed.

Therapy gives you back control over your thoughts and emotions, allowing you to feel present and enjoy life again.

About Jesse Collins, Ph.D., LMHC, PA

My approach is guided by experience.

As a US Army veteran and retired law enforcement officer with 28 years in uniform, I can relate to the challenges and consequences of living a life of service.

In private psychotherapy practice for over 20 years, serving Florida clients, counseling is my present call to service. Couples, individuals, and teen issues are addressed online.

I have a Ph.D. in Psychology, an M.A. in Counseling, and a B.A. in Criminology.

To relax outside of therapy…

I enjoy sporting clays, target shooting, and spending time with friends. The quality of life you seek does not have to be determined by the trauma you lived through. Help is here; I look forward to meeting you.
